Health is wealth. I hope you know and understand this by heart. Your health is one of your alley in achieving your dreams and achieving your goals and thus, your alley in achieving financial freedom.
Last week, I was confined in hospital for straight 7 days because of dengue. It was hard. It was devastating. And that would be the last time I will be confine, hopefully. Hehe.
From financial perspective, it affects the way we budget our money. At least our daily expenses. Though we have completed our emergency fund, it was a good thing that I also have an HMO from our company. All hospital expenses were paid by the HMO and we only spent our own daily expenses. Still, it was a headache.
What if we hit the limit of my HMO? What if we don’t have HMO anyway? What if it was not only dengue? What if I stay longer than expected?
These are some of the questions you may not think of and when it happens, it could greatly affect your financials and your journey to financial freedom. All of these can happen just because your health is at stake. And that means, “money going out“.
When you got sick, it will create a domino effect from your personal activities down to your financials. Daily expenses, medicines, fare back and forth to the hospital and most importantly the time that was being spent along the process.
People around you could also be affected. Your wife/husband can’t work and need to take care of you or your family needs to lend some help for taking care of you or your child. And many more. These are just some of the “resources” being wasted instead of spending them in other very useful activities.
The best way to prevent this? Simply take care of your health! That’s why it is always said, your health is wealth. And that is so true.
Don’t get it wrong. We know that sometimes, you cannot tell when you’re going to get sick but if you take care of your body and take care of your health, your chance of getting sick and hospitalized are slimmer. So to prevent these things affecting you, you need to take care of your body. You need to take care of your health.
