It’s been a while since the last time I shared a personal story. Did you miss it? I did! That’s why I’m sharing another one today. This is what a typical day looks like for a full-time househusband. ๐
As you’ve already know, I lose my job after being redundated from my previous company. Yes, we were laid off! Read the story here.
I also shared my decision not to continue to work in the corporate world here.
Well, honestly, I have some interviews within the past 2 months for some companies I choose to try (because I think they’re great). Some I declined because of the location and the offer ($_$) while didn’t heard back anything from the others.
The plan is, if it’s really worth it, I’ll grab it. That’s in term of location, schedule and of course to be frank, salary.
So far, nothing happened yet. I think I was really destined to be a full-time househusband and entrepreneur. ๐
With almost 2 months of being at home with our son and my wife, doing the chores, and being a full-time househusband, there are lot of things I learned and still learning along the way.
Let me share you some of them.
Here’s what a typical day for a full-time househusband looks like.
I’m a morning person. I normally wake up at around 5am (waking up between wee hours because of the baby were not included). ๐
So I get up and drink my coffee while opening this laptop.
While sipping coffee, I write.
Yes, I write on this blog in the morning. That’s between 5AM to 6:30AM.
Well, this past few months has been slightly different. I worked on some project on my other blog called “The Project Ebook“.
I slept a bit late and woke up a bit early to finish this project. Just a little bit of sacrifice you know.
Yes, I wrote a complete ebook about CCNAย and offer that on the other blog we have.
The result? Awesome! Amazing! As in.
Right now, me and my wife still can’t believe that success. I’m still in the cloud honestly.
I will share that in the future.
So going back, I must be able to write something between 5:00 to 6:30AM. If I failed, I can’t write anything on this blog on that day.
Why? Because B2(our baby) usually wake up at around 6:30AM.
And when he’s awake, like any other baby, you can’t do anything that much. I mean with all focus and concentration.
It’s like an alarm calling you “It’s Daddy’s time“. So I have to drop everything and check B2.
When he woke up, he drink his milk then I changed his diaper.
At around 7:00 AM, if the weather is good, we walk around the subdivision at least 30 minutes everyday.
So there we goes. A daddy and his son in stroller walking around the subdivision.
Sometimes we take some selfies like this one.
While walking, I listen to podcast as shared before. Podcast from Bo Sanchez of Truly Rich Clubย are great help and inspiration.
I also listen to some entrepreneurial and personal development podcast.
Yes, all podcast! No music or whatever.
We’re back home at around 8:00AM.
From 8:00AM to around 9:00AM, we usually on the floor playing. Or sometimes watching cartoons on the tv.
Then the queen of the house(wife) usually woke up around 8:30AM. ๐
My loving wife will take care of B2 and I’ll do some chores in the house.
Washing milk bottles, dishes etc.
Sometimes, I cook our meal but these days we usually buy from the carinderia outside. Just to save time.
B2 usually take a nap around 9:30AM to 10 or 10:30AM.
And then when he woke up again at around 10:30AM to 11:00AM, it’s time to take a bath.
If wife will work from home, we do it together hand in hand. Sometimes I do it alone.
At around 11:30AM, B2 will eat his food. Usually a squash and malunggay or crushed mixed of fruits. Then his milk.
If wife works from home, she logged in at 11AM. If she needs to go to office, she leaves at around 10:30AM(usually wed & thu).
At around 12NN, B2 was done with his lunch and milk. It’s time for our lunch. Haaay. ๐
Sometimes we need to put him on his walker and turn on the tv again so my wife and I can eat together.
Sometimes, one is eating and one is taking care B2(that’s how it works you know).
If wife is in the office, I eat like a ninja while B2 is on his walker. Then go back to him again after eating.
At around 2-3PM, B2 will take another nap. This time a little bit longer. Usually 2-2.5 hours.
During these hours if wife is in the office, I finish other chores. Or take a bath if not yet done.
If wife is working from home, life is much easier. A big relief. Haha.
We always hand in hand with B2 and other things.
B2 wakes up again at round 4:00PM, drink his milk.
Then at around 4:30 or 5:00 PM if weather is good, we go down again and take another round of walk in the village.
Same scenario like in the morning. ๐
At around 6:00PM, we’re back at the base. Time to prepare his dinner.
Usually mixed vegetables or mixed fruits with his milk again like this.
Then another 30 minutes of watching cartoons.
After that, I need to change his clothes, diaper and wash him.
Then around 7:30PM – 8:00PM, we took our dinner.
We normally bought 2 meals in the morning or cooked meals that cover lunch and dinner.
At around 8:30PM to 9:00PM, B2 is already in the bed. With me or with his mom if wife works from home.
I’ll do another set of chores again i.e washing dishes, milk bottles etc.
So at around 9:30 – 10:00PM, everything is all set.
Another day has gone. ๐
At around 10:00PM, I’ll open my laptop again and work on the blogs. Tweaking, updating, reading comments, fixing bugs etc.
Reading other blogs and learning other techniques and strategies too.
I don’t usually write in the evening. Why? Because it’s hard to gain focus and concentration after the whole day.
That’s why I do it early in the morning while my mind is fresh, focused and on fire.
I go to bed and be with B2 and his mom at around 11:00 – 11:30PM.
Before I sleep, I always thank God for giving me this opportunity.
To take care my wife and my son. Nothing compares with seeing and being with them all the time. That’s the best thing you can have in life.
The end.
That’s how a typical day looks like for a full-time househusband. At least for me and for us.
It’s tiring sometimes but I love every minute of it.
It’s boring sometimes but when you think about it, it’s exciting and it’s fun.
It’s challenging sometimes but in return, you grow in every aspect of yourself.
As a husband, as a father and as a man.
I hope this has been inspiring.
Until next time, cheers!
