Another inspirational Monday for you buddy. Today let me inspired you again with a very short but valuable story. This is regarding the elephant rope.
As you read, you’ll realize that there are things in life that hold us back. We believe that we can’t do anything about it but the truth is, we can. We just “believe” we can’t. Read the full story below.
The elephant rope
As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime can break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these elephants just stood there and made no attempt to get away.
“Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The man was amazed. These elephants could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.
Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? Or Maybe we just thought we can’t do it?
Everyone of us has the potential to break free, we just have to take action. We just have to break that false human belief. We just have to break the “elephant rope“.
Letting go and breaking free is always hard as humans because we always feel attached to what we used to have or what we used to do. Things that conditioned us the way we are right now. Things that holding us back from doing what we really want and what we really love. That’s false human belief!
Before, I really want to write and start my own blog. But the fear of “people will laugh at me” holds me back. The fear of “I am not a good writer” holds be back. The fear of “I don’t have a writing experience, how can I write?” holds me back. And a lot of things play in mind. Until I made a decision to break the elephant rope.
Fast-forward today, I can write a full 2,500 words non-stop inspiring people. This blog inspire and help many Filipinos in their personal finance. In fact this blog won an award and also able to help me earn passive income.
You know what I did? I just let go of those false belief. I break the “elephant rope“. I just took action. And that my friend is all you need to do.
Maybe you want to apply for a higher position in your company but the fear of “not being qualified” is holding you back? Maybe you want to start a business but the “belief that you don’t have the skills and knowledge” is holding you back. Maybe you want to start a new relationship but “the memories or bitterness of your past relationship” is holding you back.
Or maybe you want to try new things in life like new jobs, new skills, new hobby, new places, new friends etc. but the “fear of failing” or the “fear of not making it” is holding you back? I’m telling you, you can. You just have to try. You just have to take action.
Let go of this false human belief that conditioned you from not trying new things in life. Cut that “elephant rope” that conditioned you from breaking free and living the highest potential of yourself.
Remember that your past doesn’t determine your future but your present and decisions today will.
I hope this has been inspiring. Have a great weekend ahead. Cheers!
