From reading a lot of successful stories and watching a lot of inspirational videos, I came to realize that there’s a common secret of success from successful people. If you’re down and having hard times in your life right now, I’m sure this will give some glimpse of inspiration. Let me share it to you.
We always hear the old school quote that says, “as long as you live there’s hope“. And today I’m going to repeat that again to you. Be great! Why? Because you can still make it. There is hope!
Failure is not an excuse to continue moving and pursuing the life you want. You always have a choice to make a change.
If it doesn’t work at first, then try again.
As long as you keep on trying, as long as you keep on improving, you’re getting one step closer in achieving what you want. That’s the common secret of success.
To inspire your day, let me share you stories which share the common secret of success. Here you go.
Failing 10,000 times
Have you heard Thomas Edison story? If not, let me share it to you.
Thomas Edison is the famous scientist who invented the light bulb. And that was not an easy invention for him. It took him 10,000 mistakes before the formula finally worked out.
10,000 mistakes? Whoa! That’s a lot of failures. And it took a very long time.
There’s lot of frustrations. Lots of criticism. Lots of self-doubt.
Did Thomas Edison gave up? Nope. Because in his heart he knew that that’s what he really want.
In his heart, he knew he was going to make it. And what’s the secret? He just never give up.
What if he quit after 1,000th attempt? Or what if he surrendered after 9,999 times of failures? We wouldn’t have a light bulb today.
The lesson I’m pointing on this is that there’s always hope as long as you never give up. Never ever think to give up.
In our life, there are times we failed. Many times.
Sometimes we are losing hope and seeing no progress. Sometimes we want to quit and just want to continue what life brings to us.
I’m begging you, please do not quit. Please please do not lose hope. Please do not give up.
Like Thomas Edison, continue trying until it worked. Always look for new ways and find what’s work and what’s not.
Even if took you 10,000x or even 100,000x or more. The rules is, just do not give up.
Finding the secret of success at the age of 65+
It doesn’t matter what your age is when you really want something and worked all your way to get that “one thing“.
It doesn’t matter how many times you failed. It doesn’t matter how many trials came into your life.
The secret of success is, just don’t give up on life.
Did you know Colonel Sanders?
At the age of 5 his father died. At the age of 16 he quit school. And at age of 17, he already lost four jobs.
At 18, he got married. And between age 18 and 22 he worked as railroad conductor.
At age 19 he became a father. But in his 20th, his wife left him and took their daughter.
He joined the army and never make it. He applied for law school and was rejected.
He became an insurance agent and failed again. Then he became a cook and dish washer in a small cafe.
At age of 65 he retired.
He got $105 from the government as his retirement. He felt government can’t support him so he commit suicide thinking himself as a failure.
When he’s writing about his will, he came up to wrote the things he should’ve done but never did. And he realized there was so much more he hadn’t done in his life. Like what I shared before, this is the top regret of a dying person.
He knew there is one thing he could do better than anyone he knew and that is how to cook.
So he borrowed $87 to bought and fried some chicken using his own recipe.
He offered that recipe to multiple restaurants and ask for a very little royalty fee. But again, he failed. 1009 times!
Yes, more than 1,000 times of another failure. Did he give up? No, not this time.
Almost all restaurants refused and laughed at him. Remember his already 65+ years old.
But this time, it didn’t stop him. He persevered. He continued and he didn’t gave up.
At age 88, he became millionaire and built his empire.
Now KFC is one of the largest and successful restaurant chain in the world.
With almost 20,000 locations and in 123 different countries.
And yes, Colonel Sander is the owner and founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken or famously known as KFC.
There’s a lot of lessons you can learn from Colonel Sander’s story. But again, the common secret of success is just don’t give up on life.
If you’re thinking you’re too old to follow your dreams or to follow your passion, think again. 65 is not old to build an empire!
There are many other stories like these but if we dig deep, the common secret of success is just not giving up.
Remember, don’t give up!
I hope this article inspires your day. Have a great week ahead. Cheers!
