Aside from basic personal finance tips, this blog also shares useful and practical information that can help Filipino readers in their day to day tasks. Previously, we shared articles like how to get sss number, TIN number, Philippine passport, NSO documents and other related requirements when getting a job or needed requirements for legal transactions.
This time, we’re sharing an article on how to get police clearance in the Philippines. Usually, a police clearance is a requirement when you’re applying for a job here in the Philippines or probably abroad. Sometimes it is also required when getting NBI clearance.
It can also serve as a supporting document in any legal process here in the Philippines. Getting your passport, postal ID, business permits etc. are usually needs a police clearance from the applicant.
Like the barangay clearance, the police clearance also proves and certify an individual has a good record and NO pending police case or say criminal case locally on that municipality and/or city/province.
NBI clearance is needed to clear or certify an individual for any offense, case, or liability within the Philippines.
Anyway, if you’re planning to get a police clearance you may follow the steps and requirements below.
Police clearance requirements
- Completed application form
- Barangay clearance
- Cedula (Tax community Certificate)
- Fees (May vary)
*Note: This also requires personal appearance of the applicant as you need to have a photo taken at fingerprints by the police department.
4 Easy steps on how to get police clearance
1. Go to your local police station. Usually, it’s always on your municipal hall too.
*Note: Make sure you got your barangay clearance and cedula ready.
2. Advise the officer in charge that you need to get a police clearance for whatever purpose you need. They will provide you the form.
3. Fill up the form and submit it. On large municipalities(Metro Manila), you need to fall in line when getting the form, paying the fees (in city treasurer’s office and in other steps), encoding your personal data, and releasing the police clearance and/or ID. They will also take photo and fingerprint from you(you may also need to fall in line in this step).
4. Once the encoding and payment were done, you just need to sign and you’re good to go(at least for small municipalities like mine). In Metro Manila, you may need to wait again until your number or name was called to claim our police clearance and ID. You now have your police clearance! Please note that police clearance expires after a year.
You can now start applying for jobs or use your police clearance in whatever legal purpose you need. I hope this short article has been informative. To our success, cheers!
