BRSTN codes of banks in the Philippines

If you’re a freelancer or doing most of your banking transaction online, you may have heard or know what is BRSTN codes of banks in the Philippines. A BRSTN code is the Bank Routing Symbol Transit Number, and is the popular term for a Bank Identifier Code (BIC) used among banks in the Philippines to transfer funds.

It is a nine-digit code identifying your country, city, and bank. With this simple code, any individual’s bank or any company or institution’s bank can route funds to any registered bank in the Philippines.

This is the common process for online payment of common freelance websites today like upwork, elance and many more.

BRSTN codes are usually used for bank to bank transaction. Let’s say your foreign employer’s bank need to deposit or transfer money to your Local bank account here in the Philippines, in order to do that, they need to have the BRSTN codes.

As mentioned, their bank will route or transfer the money to your bank account using the BRSTN code.

    Hi,

    My account in BPI is under BPI Family Savings bank. Can I use the code above or is it only for BPI specifically? I mean not under Family Savings Bank or ExpressTeller, if you know what I mean 😉
